 RUSH FAQ

Here are some frequently asked questions about Alpha Sigma Rho and Zeta Chapter

What is Rush?

Rush is a two week period for students who are interested in joining our organization, and learning more about it. There is absolutely NO obligation to join, ALL events are FREE, and rides are available.
In order to receive a bid, students must attend ONE informational, TWO social events and have a 2.5 cumulative GPA by the time of interest in rush.

Why rush ASR?

The answer is easy...WHY NOT?! We are an Asian-Interest BUT NOT Asian exclusive and the FIRST AND ONLY here on Towson's campus. We truly are the best sisterhood and can't wait to expand with YOU

Is the New Member Education process hard?

The New Member Education Process is a series of events that new members have to fulfill to be considered a sister of Alpha Sigma Rho. This process can be challenging at times but is used to promote our values and build a strong sisterhood. We, as sisters of Alpha Sigma Rho and students of Towson University are STRONGLY against hazing.

Isn't joining a sorority just paying for friends?

This has to be the furthest from the truth. Yes, you do have dues that must be paid but the money you pay goes back into the sorority for use in sisterhoods, apparel, and many other things.  And if dues are the reason you are hesitant to join, you can always fundraise for them!  The truth is, the friends you make through the sorority can be some of the closest friends you'll ever have.   It's all about what you put in to the relationships you form that will help you come away with life-long friends.

Don't sorority girls just party all the time?

It's always a good time to go out and relieve some stress but time management is key when joining any organization. No, we don't party "all the time," because we are at college first to be a student. We as sisters hold each other accountable and help with time management so we can be successful in our endeavors.

What will I get out of being a sister of Alpha Sigma Rho?

Bottom line: you get what you put in. We can offer sisterhood, friendships, organization skills, time management, networking, the list goes on and on. These will help you have memories that will last a lifetime.
